Overview

Valyd ("we", "our", or "the app") is an anonymous compliment app for college students. We are committed to protecting your privacy while providing a fun, positive social experience.

Information We Collect

Account Information

• Phone Number: Used solely for authentication via SMS verification. We do not sell or share your phone number.
• Display Name: The name you choose to show other users.
• Campus/University: To connect you with others at your school.

Usage Data

• Votes you cast (stored anonymously)
• Compliments you receive
• App interaction data (for improving the experience)

Device Information

• Device type and operating system
• Unique device identifiers (for push notifications)

How We Use Your Information

• Authentication: Your phone number verifies your identity
• Core Features: Matching you with campus peers, delivering anonymous compliments
• Notifications: Alerting you when someone votes for you
• Improvement: Analytics to improve app performance

Anonymity Promise

Your votes are ANONYMOUS. When you vote for someone:

• They will NOT see your name
• They will NOT see your phone number
• They will only see WHAT they were voted for, not WHO voted

Data Sharing

We do NOT:

• Sell your personal data
• Share your phone number with third parties
• Reveal who voted for whom

We MAY share:

• Aggregated, non-identifying statistics
• Data required by law enforcement with valid legal process

Third-Party Services

We use:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, analytics
• RevenueCat: Subscription management
• AdMob (Google): Advertising for free users

These services have their own privacy policies.

Advertising

Free users see rewarded video ads to unlock compliments. We use Google AdMob which may collect:

• Device advertising ID
• General location (country/region)
• App usage patterns

Premium subscribers ("Valyd+") do not see ads.

Data Retention

• Account data is retained while your account is active
• You may delete your account at any time in Settings
• Upon deletion, your data is removed within 30 days

Children's Privacy

Valyd is intended for users 17 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we discover such data, we will delete it immediately.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request data deletion
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Request data portability

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication (Firebase Auth)
• Regular security reviews

We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
